+겨울의 목소리 톤이 올라갔다. 평소의 겨울이라면 상상도 못 할 반응이었다. 그녀는 우산을 쥔 손에 힘을 주며 여름을 정면으로 바라보았다.

+"너 요즘 이상해. 갑자기 연락 끊고, 만나면 퉁명스럽게 굴고. 내가 뭘 잘못했는데? 내가 뭘 그렇게 잘못했길래 너한테 이런 취급을 받아야 해?"

+"잘못? 그래, 잘못했지! 넌 항상 그런 식이야. 다정하고, 착하고, 모두에게 좋은 사람인 척하면서 정작 옆에 있는 사람은 생각도 안 하지!"

+여름은 소리를 질렀다. 빗소리에 묻혀 목소리가 갈라졌지만, 그녀는 아랑곳하지 않았다. 사실은 겨울을 탓하는 것이 아니었다. 그녀는 지금 자기 자신에게 소리를 지르고 있었다. 자신의 감정을 컨트롤하지 못하고, 고작 타인의 등장에 흔들리는 이 한심한 모습에 대해.

+여름이 당황해 소리쳤지만, 겨울은 돌아보지 않았다. 그녀의 뒷모습이 쏟아지는 빗줄기 너머로 점점 흐릿해졌다. 여름은 손에 쥐어진 우산을 내려다보았다. 작은 우산. 두 사람이 함께 쓰기엔 너무나 좁았던, 하지만 서로의 온기를 느끼기엔 충분했던 그 우산이 이제는 짐처럼 무겁게 느껴졌다.
